Music
At Queensville Montessori Academy, we believe that a balanced experience of verbal and intuitive thinking best develops a child's mind. Music is an exercise in intuitive thinking and an important part of the curriculum at our school.
The constant adjustments in the areas of tempo, tone, style, rhythm, phrasing and feeling that music requires will impact attentional skills, the ability to organize and multi-task, self-knowledge, expression and intelligence itself in the child. Language is dependent upon auditory discrimination, an ability enhanced by music. Sequencing, left to right progression and handeye coordination are necessary skills for both music and written language.
Studies such as those in The Journal of Research in Music Education and Early Childhood Research Quarterly have demonstrated that music performance and instruction in the early childhood years, ages 3 to 6, will result in significant increases in spatial-temporal performance. Such performance enhancement is important in various applications, including logic and mathematics.
At Queensville Montessori Academy, your child will have the advantage of our excellent Music curriculum.
