“Montessori” is a comprehensive educational approach based on children’s natural learning tendencies. Children absorb what they observe in their surrounding environment. Thus, Dr. Maria Montessori coined the phrase “the absorbent mind”. Given this fact of “absorption”, it is essential that the children be placed in a prepared environment. This environment is one that invites children to engage in learning activites of their own individual choice. Special materials are used to facilitate this process. Each child uses the materials and develops at his or her own individual pace.

Not all Montessori schools, however, are faithful to the methodology of Maria Montessori. Some are a hybrid of various educational approaches. After considerable study, we, as educators, satisfied ourselves that the proven method employed by Maria Montessori is the very best for young children. That is why we employ only the Montessori method at our school.
